Leading Positive Change: The Power of Stakeholder Engagement

Driving positive change is crucial for our society to thrive sustainably on a habitable planet. The required efforts to achieve these goals will need to happen in all the layers of society – companies included. At the same time, leading change within a company demands a lot of courage and persistence, with the added challenge of convincing employees to support and embrace the necessary changes. How can we best approach these challenges?

In this community call, Julia Bodin, founder of Let's Talk Waste, will share insights on how stakeholder engagement was a key element of success in the collaboration with Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling, a company who committed to achieve zero plastic waste in their operations by 2025 .

The call will be hosted by Kaspar Paur, collaboratio helvetica's key account lead with catalyst, and founder of Let's Talk Waste, Julia Bodin. Let's Talk Waste is a project that empowers employees to actively engage and work on waste reduction, and related topics. Since 2018, Julia educates, empowers and co-strategizes with employees of companies who are looking to either raise awareness of the impact of waste and plastic pollution and/or who have a specific goal in mind to reduce waste production at their location.

In this call, we are going to talk about 'steward ownership' (in German: Responsibility), an alternative ownership structure that is gaining international recognition and popularity. Steward ownership presents an alternative to shareholder value primacy and is essential to reaching a post-growth era. This means that steward ownership ensures that companies prioritize long-term purposes over short-term profits by legally protecting the two principles of self-determination and purpose orientation.

Annina Menzi from Purpose Switzerland will explain the basics of steward ownership and together, we'll explore its fundamental aspects. You will understand the relevance and influence of ownership structures on the fundamental dynamics of entrepreneurship as well as their impact on a New Economy, towards more responsibility and purpose. Prominent pioneers such as Patagonia, Bosch, and Ecosia, as well as emerging local pioneers like Monopole or Crowd Container among many others, already operate based on these principles.

Die open source Community Platform „organisator“ bekommt neue Features und ein Upgrade auf die neueste Version des zugrunde liegenden WebFrameworks RubyOnRails (neu Version 7 & Hotwire). Ich arbeite zur Zeit intensiv daran, Schwachstellen auszumerzen und zusammen mit den Nutzer:innen sinnvolle neue Features einzubauen.

Gerne würde ich das auch offen und partizipativ machen.

Wenn du eine Idee hast, was „organisator“ dringend noch braucht, welches neue Feature du darin sehen möchtest, dann sag es mir in den Kommentaren.
